Advancing Permanent PFAS Solutions: Key Takeaways from WEFTEC 2025
At WEFTEC 2025, one message came through loud and clear: the water sector is ready to move beyond containment and toward permanent, scalable solutions for PFAS remediation.
We came to WEFTEC to learn, connect, and explore partnerships that can accelerate the deployment of the ARID Process™; our vision for an on-site PFAS remediation that is accessible and resilient. With PFAS contamination continuing to challenge utilities and industries, collaboration across technologies is not just beneficial but is essential.
A Shared Focus on Permanent Destruction
PFAS remediation has historically relied on separation and concentration technologies, often shifting the burden downstream without eliminating the problem. At WEFTEC, we intentionally focused our conversations on destruction technologies that align with ARID’s core principles:
On-site, permanent destruction
Minimal secondary waste
Scalability
Energy & lifecycle efficiency
Innovative Technologies Driving Progress
Throughout the conference, we had the opportunity to engage with several companies advancing PFAS destruction in meaningful and complementary ways.
Aquatech showcased their DE-FLUORO™ electrochemical oxidation system, a modular and field-ready solution designed to break PFAS bonds in complex waste streams. Their emphasis on lifecycle impacts and deployable infrastructure strongly aligns with the ARID Process™ philosophy.
Aquagga presented their HALT technology, which stands for its ability to fully mineralize PFAS (including challenging short-chain compounds) without generating harmful by-products. Complete mineralization remains a critical benchmark for permanent PFAS solutions, and HALT represents a way forward.
Claros Technologies highlighted their ClarosTechUV™ photochemical destruction system, offering high-throughput PFAS elimination with promising potential for upstream industrial integration. The ability to embed destruction earlier in the process flow is a compelling opportunity for reducing overall treatment burden.
Revive Environmental demonstrated the capabilities of their PFAS Annihilator® which leverages supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) to achieve greater than 99.99% PFAS destruction in seconds. Notably, they have already deployed a mobile, fully operational commercial-scale system, underscoring maturity of this approach.
Perma-Fix Environmental Services shared insights into their Perma-FAS technology, which uses moderate temperature chemical destruction to mineralize PFAS into non-hazardous fluoride effluent. Its energy efficiency and full-scale operation make it a compelling option for long-term deployment.
Enspired Solutions introduced their PFASigator®, a modular system utilizing UV-activated reductive defluorination to break PFAS into water, fluoride, and simple carbon compounds. Designed for permanent, on-site destruction, this approach aligns closely with ARID’s decentralized treatment vision.
374Water showcased their AirSCWO™ supercritical water oxidation technology, offering scalable and on-site PFAS destruction with no harmful byproducts. Through their Waste Destruction Services (WDS) model, they are redefining how persistent wastes like PFAS, and landfill leachate can be permanently eliminated.
What made these conversations especially valuable was not just the technologies themselves, but the shared mindset behind them. These discussions were not simply informative but foundational. They reinforced our belief that integrated, on-site solutions can change the trajectory of PFAS remediation.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to develop and deploy the ARID Process™, we are actively seeking partners who share our commitment to permanent PFAS destruction. WEFTEC 2025 reaffirmed that the industry is making real progress and that collaboration will be the key to translating innovation into impact.
Together, we can move closer to permanent solutions for PFAS and destroy forever chemicals, forever.
